I Have Gone Three Consecutive Days Without A Workout

What has a painting of water lilies by Claude Monet got to do with triathlon?  Not much really, but taking the time to go see this amazing piece of art, means that I have now gone three consecutive days without a workout.

I cannot remember the last time that I went three consecutive days without a workout.  I am sure it has happened within the last year or two, but it almost certainly happened because of an injury.  Not working out, by choosing to do something else, is highly unusual for me.

If you had asked me a few weeks ago about not working out for three days, I would probably have told you that I would be freaking out about it.  Now that it has happened, I am actually perfectly fine with it.  I am on the first few days of a long vacation, and there have been other things to do to occupy my time.

My wife and I spent the day in Kansas City.  We visited the Negro Baseball Leagues Museum, wandered through the beautiful Union Station, ate some fantastic barbecue and ended the day at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Am I losing fitness?  Probably, but only a tiny amount, and as long as I get back to regular workouts in the next day or two, I will be good.  We have another long day of driving tomorrow, but my goal is to finish the day, with a shakeout run at our destination.  By not working out for three days, I suspect that I will really enjoy that run tomorrow.
