I sometimes get an idea into my head, that before long, turns into reality. A few days ago, I thought about something that I really want to do. It is a pretty cool challenge and I plan to make it a reality.
The last time I had an idea like this, I ended up running the full length of the Rachel Carson Trail. You can read all about that 45 mile adventure, in my ‘race report’ here.
Given I am in the middle of training for Ironman 70.3 Oceanside in April, the cool challenge I have in mind, is nowhere near as demanding at that Rachel Carson run. Rather than the almost 13 hours it took me to run those 45 miles, I am hoping to complete this challenge in less than 3 hours.
Why would I contemplate doing something like this, during a build up to an important race? It is partly because I need to adapt my schedule over the next few weeks. It is also because I think it does me good to switch things up occasionally. Why not inject a little responsible fun into my training, every once in a while?
So what is it that I am going to do? Well you will have to wait a little while before I reveal that. For now, I am going to keep it secret….
