Zone 1 and Zone 2 Workout

I just finished another 90 minute Zone 1 / Zone 2 bike ride on my trainer in the basement of my house.

I’m not breaking any records with these steady rides, but I am starting to build a solid endurance base.  Doing the vast majority of my rides in these zones, is critical to building the kind of endurance needed for long course triathlon races.

These are not the kind of workouts people often talk about.  There is nothing resembling a “Beat Yesterday” attitude to write about.  There are no impressive power numbers to brag about.  No large piles of sweat on the floor to photograph.  They are just critical workhorse workouts, that we should all do on a very regular basis.

I actually felt quite good tonight.  My injuries are starting to heal, and I was able to work my legs in a manner that closely resembles normality.  As I peddled away, my mind started to wander and I began thinking about the fact that I can hopefully start running again soon.

It has been nine weeks since my last run.  That first run, when it actually happens, is going to feel so good.

Quick footnote :  My website is pretty basic right now.  I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog.  I’m looking forward to building the website over time into a useful resource for you .. just another part of my ‘life’ that you will get to read about.
