Like the title says… yesterday’s decision to cut short my bike ride, proved to be a good one. I woke up this morning feeling quite refreshed and set out to do the workout that I had started yesterday.
This workout was a tough one. Five and half hours on the bike and towards the end, it included three 30 minute intervals in Zone 4 (17 minutes) and Zone 3 (13 minutes). To make matters worse, even though I started early, it got got very hot and humid. By the time the intervals came around, it was close to 90’F, with a Dew Point of 77’F.
With that heat, I was smart and stopped regularly to refill my water bottles and hydrate. This definitely helped me get through the workout and by the time I finished, I had also completed a century ride. I would never have guessed I would ride that far today, when I stopped early yesterday.
While stopping for water, I also took the opportunity to adjust my new saddle. I think it is going to work out. I don’t have it fully figured out and adjusted yet, but it already feels pretty good. More to come on this.
I am pretty tired this evening, but also so happy about yesterday’s decision. I can be so hard to not finish a workout, but as today proved, it can also be hugely beneficial.
