I went to North Park for my long run this afternoon. It was really quiet, and I only saw seven other runners while I was there. I was not surprised, it has been raining all day.
After my legs felt better on my long ride yesterday, I was not as apprehensive about my long run today. It was an easy paced run, but was a long one. My scheduled run was an hour and forty five minutes long.
I was planning on running early in the day, but woke up to find torrential rain outside. I took a quick look at the radar, and could see that there was a high chance, that it would be raining all day. The good news, if you can call it that, was that the rain would ease off later in the day. I was OK with running in the rain, as long as it wasn’t pouring down. I decided that I would run after lunch.
This proved to be a good decision. The morning was filled with heavy rain and thunderstorms, but after lunch we had intermittent showers, albeit quite heavy ones. I did end up running in the rain, and I got very wet. I also had a pretty good run. My legs held up well, and I ran 12.5 miles, mostly alone.
Running in the rain was quite nice. The temperature was in the high 50’s and I dressed appropriately. This evening, my legs are a little sore, but after my longest run since Oceanside, I am not surprised. I think I am close to being back to normal, which is a good thing, with a big week of training ahead.
