“Balancing Life And Triathlon – Sharing To Inspire” … a simple description of this blog and why I am writing it.
A decision to start running, almost six years ago, changed my life. It started me on a journey that has culminated in me loving the sport of triathlon and being in the best shape of my life, at age 57. The journey has not always been easy. I have had injuries, periods of no motivation, ‘bad’ races and workouts where I thought I might pass out. Sometimes ‘life’ got in the way too.
Somehow, I endured it all to get where I am today and it is that somehow, that matters most. I could not have done this without the help of countless people who gave me advice and support along the way. I needed lots of help. I have learnt so much and yet, I still feel like I know so little. Everyday brings new challenges, opportunities to learn and more recently, a chance to use my experiences to help others.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving … a time to be grateful and to reflect. I have done a lot of reflecting this year…. it’s been a tough one. I have spent a lot of time thinking about what makes me happy. Triathlon and especially the day to day process of trying to improve, makes me happy. Learning makes me happy. But helping others and seeing them achieve things they couldn’t believe they could do, makes me even happier.
Which brings me to this blog… it’s about my day to day journey in triathlon and sharing it with the hope that, in some small way, it can help you on your journey too.

Quick footnote : My website is pretty basic right now. I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog. I’m looking forward to building the website over time into a useful resource for you .. just another part of my ‘life’ that you will get to read about.
