While my wife and I are really excited about our upcoming move to Colorado, there are some things that we will miss about living in Pittsburgh. One of those things will be Saturday Group Runs with our friends in the City of Bridges Run Club.
When I started my endurance sports journey almost ten years ago, I decided to take a chance and met up with a local run club for a track training session. I was made to feel really welcome by everyone and it changed everything for me. The run group gave me the motivation and support I needed, when I was a beginner.
Since that first track session, I have made a lot of really good friends through the group, so it was kind of sad this past Saturday. It was our last run before leaving town and it was a classic event put on by the City Of Bridges club organizers. They were partnering with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for a fund raiser. After the run, we were treated to soups and snacks in return for a small donation. You can tell how popular the event was, because over $1,400 was made.
This Is How Much I Love Running With The City Of Bridges Run Club
The fact that I ran a group run on Saturday, probably gave away the fact that I am back up and running (literally) with my training. As mentioned last week, with the impeding move, I am limited to running only right now; and run I did last week. I managed a total of five runs, for a total of almost thirty miles.
This week, I have also run on both days so far, so I am on a streak. Having completely shut down for over two weeks, I had forgotten how much I enjoy working out. I cannot wait until the move to Colorado is complete, and I can also swim and bike again.
