My wife and I got up in the early hours of this morning to make our way to the airport for our trip to Oceanside. Having travelled all day, we have safely arrived at our condo.
I woke up this morning to the sound of freezing rain hitting our windows. It woke me up quickly, because I immediately got concerned about the road conditions. Freezing rain can cause havoc for driving. Would we be able to make it to the airport safely?
Luckily, the roads were in good shape, and we got to the airport in plenty of time. We checked our bags and I dropped off my bike at the oversize luggage counter. I crossed my fingers that it would make it to San Diego, via our layover in Las Vegas. I needn’t have worried, the bike was the first piece of luggage we got upon our arrival.
We picked up the rental car for the drive to Oceanside and we got a sweet, free of charge upgrade, which I took to be a good omen for the weekend. Traffic was slow coming out of San Diego, so we got to our condo just in time for dinner. As we walked to a nearby restaurant, we were passed by at least a dozen people riding triathlon bikes….
We may have travelled all day, but seeing the ocean, the pier and athletes on bikes, has me really excited for Saturday.
