What a great afternoon. You can’t beat watching Jan Frodeno at Challenge Miami. He is truly a legend, and today he once again showed us why.
Long course triathlon is not known as a great spectator sport. All that is changing however, with the races that Challenge is creating at NASCAR race tracks. Having all the action occur within the racetrack stadium, means that there is lots to see at any given moment.
I enjoyed both the men’s and women’s professional races today, but what Jan Frodeno did in the men’s race was amazing. He is such a phenomenal triathlete; he has no weaknesses. He was in the front pack during the swim. On the bike, he was able to easily stay at the front of the race. It took him less than two minutes to take the lead on the run.
Once he was in the lead, there was no doubt who was going to win the race. Jan ended up winning easily and when he crossed the line, he looked almost relaxed. It was like he had another gear, that he didn’t need to use.
I will never be anywhere near the athlete that Jan is, but that’s OK. It’s enough to watch him and dream of being that good.
