I have been a certified triathlon coach for a while now, but every two years it is necessary to apply for USAT coaching recertification. I applied for recertification about a month ago, and today I got the news, that I was formally re-certified.
USAT coaching recertification means I will remain a certified coach through to December 2024. The certification not only supports my coaching, but also provides a number of benefits, including liability insurance. I highly recommend becoming a USAT certified coach, if you coach athletes.
This is the time of year, when many athletes have finished race season and are enjoying their ‘off-season’. Pretty soon however, the itch to train will return, and the focus will turn to racing in 2023. This is when many people consider getting a coach. It was this time of year, that I first engaged a coach, for my own triathlon journey.
If you are considering getting a coach, please reach out to me. I would love to talk with you about what coaching involves. Reach out, even if you are just curious about it; there are no obligations to engage my services. I really enjoy sharing knowledge, and that might include advice to try something other than coaching. Everyone’s situation is different.
The next phase of coaching certification for me, is to continue to learn more. This may well include getting an ‘area of focus’ certification from USAT. I am thinking of choosing ‘Long Course Triathlon’ as my area of focus. It is the type of racing I enjoy the most, both from a racing and coaching perspective.
