As you know, if you read my blog post yesterday, my right knee is bothering me. With it being so close to my next race, my priority has changed from working out, over to getting the knee issue fixed. As a result of this, I decided to take an easy day.
I did go swimming this morning. Swimming doesn’t impact my knee in any way, as long as I don’t push off the wall of the pool with my right leg. I am so glad I went to the pool, as I had one of my better swims of the past few weeks. It is strange. Yesterday, I felt terrible in the water and yet today, I felt great. Hopefully I have one of those ‘great’ days at Musselman.
Having got a swim in, I chose to relax for the rest of the day. Luckily, this decision coincided with the start of the Tour de France, so I got to watch that for a couple of hours. It was a time trial stage and the weather was terrible. I found myself cringing every time the riders went flying round a corner in the rain. I was surprised at how few crashes there were.
My knee is improving, and hopefully I can do another easy bike ride tomorrow. If I think another day off will help though, I won’t hesitate to take another easy day.
