Getting enough sleep is a key part of staying healthy as a triathlete. Sleep is the best recovery tool available, but only if you use it.
When traveling on business, getting enough quality sleep always seems to be a challenge for me. This business trip is no different. I had a late flight last night after my connection in Atlanta, which meant I didn’t arrive at my hotel until after midnight. It then took me a while to fall asleep and before I knew it, my alarm was waking me up for a breakfast meeting at 7.00am.
After a busy day, I’m writing this blog at the airport before another two flights that, if they are on time, will get me home around 11.00pm tonight. My plan is to try and get at least some sleep on those flights and then sleep as long as possible before waking up tomorrow morning. Luckily, I only have one workout tomorrow, and so I will definitely be doing that after work.
Getting enough sleep on this trip was tough but I would say I don’t get enough quality sleep … period. I’m thinking we need to figure that out moving forward.
Post-flight update : No sleep on the plane … Not surprised; I can never sleep on planes.
Quick footnote : My website is pretty basic right now. I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog. I’m looking forward to building the website over time into a useful resource for you .. just another part of my ‘life’ that you will get to read about.
