It definitely felt like the calm before the storm today. Tomorrow, I leave for the C26 Volume Training Camp. That camp will include a lot of hard, high volume workouts. In comparison to what lies ahead, my workouts today were easy.
I started the day with a one hour, recovery spin on the bike trainer. A 35 minute, Zone 2 run followed at lunchtime. Both workouts went well and I feel like I am getting over my recent niggles and breathing issues.
Ahead of me this week, lies at least three hard swim sessions. Two will be in open water, and I will use one of those to practice with my partner for SwimRun NC in November. I will have at least three run sessions. All will be in the heat of the day in Nashville, and the hardest will include a lot of elevation. Finally, there are the bike rides. Three of these also, and I expect to cover at least 120 miles over the weekend.
It sounds like a lot of work and it is. Despite this, it is one of my favorite weekends of the year. I will be with a lot of friends and teammates. I know we will laugh a lot and I’ll also make some new friends. The photo today was from the same camp in 2018… I can’t wait to be smiling like that again.
It is now time for bed. I need to make the most of the calm before the storm.
