Time To Start My Upgrade

It’s time… Spent some time this weekend, taking my beloved Cervelo P2 off the trainer.  It’s now on my bike stand, ready for me to start the cockpit upgrade that I wrote about in this blog.

I will not have much time during the week to work on the bike, because I am prioritizing training.  I will probably start the whole upgrade process next weekend.  In addition, to changing my front end, I am going to replace my headset bearings.  Might as well do this, while the bike is in pieces.

I am also thinking about replacing my bottom bracket.  I have been researching that process and it looks to be a little more work, than installing my new cockpit.  I’ll need to buy some more tools to get it done, so maybe I should plan on doing it … you can never have enough tools.

In order to keep training while I work on my P2, I have also installed an old road bike onto my Wahoo Kickr trainer.  That took quite a while, because I needed  to change the cassette and then adjust the derailleur to smooth out the gear changes.

I am far from a highly skilled bike mechanic, but there are so many instructional videos on YouTube these days, I feel confident tackling most jobs.  I am typically slow and methodical, when working on my bike, but at least I can get it done.  I enjoy doing it and it saves me money too.

Quick footnote :  My website is pretty basic right now.  I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog.  I’m looking forward to building the website over time into a useful resource for you .. just another part of my ‘life’ that you will get to read about.
