Three days without caffeine. That is how long it has been, since I started my Gerd Healing diet. The early days without caffeine are the hardest part.
I traditionally drink quite a lot of coffee and also tea. This means that my daily dose of caffeine, is normally quite high. So, cutting out caffeine completely, is really tough. When I have done this diet before, I remember the third day as being the toughest.
On my third day without caffeine, I have felt really tired. I have also lacked energy, so doing my two workouts today, was mentally challenging. This was because both workouts were quite demanding.
My run included 3 x 7 minutes at threshold pace, and the main set of my swim was 30 x 75 yards at Zone 3 / Zone 4 effort. I got them done effectively, but it was a challenge. I had to dig deep during both of them.
I am targeting a full month without caffeine. While that sounds terrible, it is actually quite alright, once I get past the initial withdrawal symptoms. I am hoping that starting tomorrow, things will start to improve. My craving for coffee will hopefully reduce and my energy will start to return.
I hope things get better soon, I have a huge weekend of workouts ahead of me.
