September and October are busy months for long course athletes. It is peak race season in North America and as usual, I have my biggest race of the year coming up.
It is less than two weeks until Ironman Chattanooga, and my personal excitement is building. This year however, is a little different for me. Not only do I have my biggest race of the year, but so do most of my coached athletes.
This will be the first year that I will have athletes doing big fall races, and I cannot wait to see how they all do. I know that each of them has worked so hard to prepare. I just hope that all that work, pays off over the coming weeks.
Tracking a coached athlete during their race is quite exhausting. Not knowing exactly how their day is going is tough. The race trackers are notoriously inaccurate, and so I find myself worrying about athletes, almost always for no reason.
For me, it all kicks off this weekend at Ironman Maryland. I have an athlete who will be competing in his first full Ironman event. He has put in the work and is ready for his big day. Luckily, I have only got a very short workout on Saturday, so I will be easily be able to follow his progress.
Peak race season is finally here. I cannot wait.
