My blog is about life and triathlon, and this year, ‘life’ has been very different. Given the global pandemic, it’s not surprising that life has been different, but I have to say, there have been some interesting benefits.
I have been ‘working from home’ since early March. It now seems normal, and I actually really like it. The biggest benefit, has been the lack of commuting to and from work every day. This has helped a great deal, with the scheduling of my workouts.
Every other year, I would typically do my daily workout, after work. I am just not that good at getting out of bed really early in the morning. Without a commute however, I have found that on most days, I can get my daily workout done, before work. As a result, I now have evenings available to do other things. It has been a huge change, and also one I really like.
For once, I have been able to tackle maintenance jobs around the house. Things that I have put off for years, are now getting done. It’s surprising how things add up, when you spend the odd hour in the evening, working on something. My current job is replacing rotten wood on our chimney bump out, so I can re-paint it. It was looking really bad, but pretty soon it will look great again.
I suspect that one day, hopefully in the not too distant future, I will once again return, to going into the office. That commute will be back, but I think I might start forcing myself to get up earlier. Working out before work has been a game changer, and I want it to continue.
