SwimRun NC will be my first SwimRun race, and I don’t think I could have made a better choice. The race directors have provided so much information and support.
From the moment my teammate and I applied to race, the communication has been spot on. Throughout all the cancelations due to Covid-19, we were kept informed of our options, of which there were many. We have also received a lot of e-mails keeping us up to date with plans for the race in November, including very specific directions regarding safety.
In addition, the following has occurred:
- The race organizers had ordered custom face masks for the race that ended up being cancelled in 2020. The race directors sent those masks to all participants, free of charge.
- I sent an e-mail asking a simple question about flotation devices. In response, I got a detailed message, that not only answered my question, but also gave me several other pieces of advice about successfully racing this event.
- I recently asked a question about on course nutrition and again got a detailed answer. The e-mail also contained yet more advice and tips to help us have a successful race.
- Today, I got notification about a course preview podcast. Yet another case of sharing to help participants.
As a complete rookie to SwimRun events, I am just so excited to race in North Carolina in a couple of weeks time. I cannot wait to meet the race directors in person, and thank them for all they have done. If the race goes even half as well as expected, I have a feeling I will be hooked by the sport. That is all down to the welcome that has come from the organizers of this event.
