Temperatures finally got above freezing point in Pittsburgh today. The daytime high has not been above freezing, since February 5th. That’s over two weeks of freezing weather.
Not only was it warmer for my long run today, but it was also sunny. It was time to break out the sunglasses. My favorite sunglasses for running, are my custom Oakley Radar EV glasses. I bought them almost two years ago and I still love them. They have a black frame and the fire iridium polarized path lens. That fire iridium lens looks great, when paired with my C26 Triathlon race kit.
My run this afternoon was supposed to be the usual easy paced, endurance run. With the sun out and the temperatures a little warmer however, I ended up pushing a little harder than normal. My heart rate was still in zones 1 and 2 for 75% of the time, but I did run a little too much in Zone 3. Sometimes you just feel like running a little faster. Today was one of those days.
My run workout this afternoon was the final workout of my ‘down week”. Tomorrow, I start the Build phase of my preparation for Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga. I’ll write about what is ahead for me, in tomorrow’s blog.
