My wife and I went to the pool today, and did our last swim workout ahead of SwimRun NC. We both had great swims, and our excitement is building for the race on Sunday.
We have been busy preparing for our trip to North Carolina. All of our race gear is set aside for packing. We have planned all of our meals, and figured out where our AirBnB is, in relation to the race location. Checking the weather is probably not a great idea, but we have been doing it anyway, and it looks to be very good.
Part of the reason why our excitement is building is that this is not a completely new race. I raced last year and Sarah spectated. We both know what we are getting into, and that helps a lot. At our age, we are realistic enough to know that we will not be competing for the prize money at the race. Our only goals are to have fun and finish the race. Our ‘A’ goal is to not finish last !!!
SwimRun NC is a relatively low-key, grass roots type event, and so does not have live race tracking. Nobody will know how we are doing on race day, except ourselves, our fellow competitors and the race organizers. We kind of like it that way.
Trail runs, cold swims and lots of memories are ahead on Sunday… we cannot wait.
