The Crops Are Getting High Which Means Summer Is Here

The weather today was much better, so that meant that I could do my two hour bike ride outside.  I headed north, out into the countryside.  It has been a week or so since I rode here, and I immediately noticed how high the crops have grown.  It confirmed what I already knew, summer is here.

It was hot and humid on my ride and I was glad that I was carrying lots of fluids.  I ended up drinking about fifty ounces of fluids during the two hours.  At this time of year, staying fully hydrated is very important.  If you get dehydrated, fatigue will set in.

Last year, I did a sweat test.  It was very eye opening and ever since, I have tried to be very aware of hydration when training outside.  Today however, I drank more water than electrolyte drink.  I realized this when I got home.  I made sure to drink an electrolyte drink to make up for my error.

Now that summer is here, I am excited to ride outside a lot.  As I get ready for Ironman Chattanooga, I will have multiple rides that are many hours long.  Staying hydrated and properly fueled will be a focus moving forward.
