I had an all day business trip today, so not only was I unable to do a significant workout, I also had the challenge of finding good food to eat.
I know there are many triathletes that travel a great deal as part of their jobs. I truly admire these athletes, because I personally find it really hard to stay on track with both training and particularly nutrition, while on the road.
My trip today was just a long day, driving four hours to visit a customer and then back home afterwards. I was lucky, in that I was able to eat both breakfast and dinner at home. This meant that I only had to search out a decent lunch. I was not alone on the trip, so that complicated things a little, because it meant accommodating everyone else’s lunch taste.
We ended up at the food chain, Panera Bread. While the choices were not all great, I was able to find a ‘grain bowl’ with chicken, avocados and tomatoes. I also chose to have an apple instead of the baguette or chips ( I saved the apple for the ride home). So much better than the fried chicken and fries that we were also contemplating as a team.
I need to learn more from the seasoned, ‘road warrior’, triathletes who travel all the time. I wonder how they manage their nutrition. I’d love to hear some ideas…
Quick footnote : My website is pretty basic right now. I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog. I’m looking forward to building the website over time into a useful resource for you .. just another part of my ‘life’ that you will get to read about.
