Even though I am a triathlon coach myself, I still use another coach for my own personal training. Why do I carry the cost of custom coaching, instead of following a plan created by myself?
The biggest reason why I rely on a coach for my own training, is that it represents a separate set of eyes and viewpoint from my own. If I was to review my own training, it would be easy to bias my thinking. My coach looks at my training independently. This allows him to comment on things and make changes, that I might not make myself.
Take this morning for example. I got a text from my coach. It told me to only do a swim workout today, and to take tomorrow off completely. When I saw that text, I felt a huge sense of relief. A reduced workload is exactly what I need right now, with the poor quality sleep I am currently getting.
Without a coaches guidance, it would be very easy for me to keep pushing hard. This is especially the case, with my first race of the season less than three weeks away. If I was following a set plan, I would just keep going.
The ability to constantly change and adapt the workout plan, to fit the needs of the athlete, is just one benefit of custom coaching. If you are interested in learning more, visit my coaching page and arrange a call to see if it might work for you.
