The Fastest Known Time, or FKT, for one-way on the Rachel Carson Trail is 10 hours, 34 minutes and 4 seconds. That time is well over two hours quicker than the time it took me to run the trail on Sunday.
But here is the thing, that time was run by a female athlete by the name of Amy Nelson. As of right now however, the fastest known time listed (one way) for a male athlete belongs to me.
That sounds kind of cool, and it is, but quite honestly I don’t even view it as an FKT for a male athlete. You see, the out and back FKT, is owned by Aaron Clineman. Aaron completed a run of the trail, in both directions, in just under 20 hours. That means Aaron must have run well under 10 hours ‘one way’. Aaron, however, did the ‘out and back’, so his time for ‘one way’ isn’t recorded as the male FKT, my time is.
I felt strange submitting my run to the website. I didn’t want to do it. I know that Aaron has run ‘one way’ faster than me and it is fully documented. My family however, persuaded me to submit my run. They said if the website allows it, I should submit. So I did.
Now I hope someone comes along and beats my time. I hope they do it soon, because only then, will I be happy to see my name up there on the website.
