I got up early for my run this morning. It had only just gotten light and I was hoping it would be nice and cool.
If you look closely at the photo however, you can see a lot of sweat on top of my head. That should tell you that this morning was far from cool. The temperature was not hot, but equally it wasn’t cool.
We are, somewhat slowly, getting closer to the time of year when temperatures for running get almost perfect. What is the perfect temperature for running? It’s actually about 50’F. Any hotter and your body has to work harder to keep you cool and any colder, your body uses energy to keep warm.
That is why Fall is my favorite season. Temperatures in Pittsburgh are close to 50’F; humidity levels are quite low and the scenery gets beautiful, as the leaves begin to change color.
I was hoping that this morning would feel like Fall. Unfortunately, Fall is not quite here yet, and so I’m still waiting for cooler weather.
