If you want to get better at something, it helps to do it a lot. I want to improve my swimming, so I am committed to swimming a lot more.
A week or so ago, an injury stopped me from running, so I went to the pool a lot more than I normally do. I really enjoyed those few extra sessions, and it has made me realize that swimming a lot more is doable.
As you know from yesterday’s blog, I had an endurance swim workout. Today, my only scheduled workout, was an eighty minute ride on the bike. I got that ride done before lunchtime, which left me with time to go to the pool this afternoon. So that is what I did.
You can see the workout that I did in the photo above. I chose to swim quite hard at the start of the workout. This was followed by some steady work with the pull buoy. I ended this way, because I wanted to rest my legs a little, after my earlier bike session.
I have another scheduled swim tomorrow. After that swim, I will be above my 2021 average yardage for weekly swimming. My goal is to try and double my average swim yardage for the next couple of months.
It will be interesting to see if all this addition work helps improve my swimming and if so, by how much. Any guesses on possible pace improvement?
