Triathlon can be a very expensive hobby. I have done many upgrades to my bike over the past couple of years. These have been quite expensive and it also left me with a number of old bike parts, that I no longer needed.
The old bike parts have just been sitting around in my basement, so a few weeks ago, I decided I would try and sell them. I thought that maybe I would be able to get a few dollars to help pay for some more new things, or perhaps cover the cost of upcoming race entries.
Last year, I sold my old Quarq power meter through Facebook Marketplace. I knew that there was a market for expensive items like power meters, but what about more mundane things like used saddles and drivetrain parts. Well it turns out, that there is indeed a market for these items, and a whole lot more, on eBay.
The fees on eBay are quite high, but having cash for the old parts, is better than having them gathering dust in the basement. It doesn’t cost anything to list things on eBay, so I really have nothing to lose, except the time needed to take a few photographs, and actually list an item.
I recently sold a saddle for $75 and a vintage derailleur, that I have had for a long time, for $35. I will be listing more things this week, including the aerobars I removed from my Cervelo, when I installed my TriRig cockpit. Other items I will list are an old heart rate monitor and a pair of like-new run shoes, that I didn’t like running in.
Do you have stuff lying around, that you could sell?
