After opening again a week ago, the pool where I do my swim workouts, was closed again today for more repairs. It is so frustrating to drive all the way to the pool, only to find out that you cannot do your swim.
When I arrived home and told my wife that the pool was closed again, she suggested that I use the time productively. She said I should use the old bananas that we had, to make banana bread muffins. So that is what I did.
Just over a month ago, I wrote a blog about trying to eat healthier snacks. Just after writing that blog, I made banana bread muffins from a recipe that I found in Emma Coburn’s ‘Runner’s Kitchen’ cookbook. These muffins are so good. They taste great, and are filling enough, to make me feel like I had a decent snack.
I was so glad that I baked. It completely took my mind off the fact that I missed a swim workout. It also felt like I didn’t just waste the extra time, I had gotten back in my day.
I have no idea how long the pool will be closed this time around. Luckily, with my race coming up this weekend, I don’t have any more scheduled swims until next Monday. Hopefully, that will be enough time, to get the pool fixed.
