Pool Repairs Ruin My Plan For A Big Swim Block

I made it to LA Fitness to swim this morning.  It was great to get back in the water, but I also got some bad news.  Upcoming pool repairs, mean that I will not be able to swim for two full weeks in early December.

This news has scuppered my plans to do a big block of swimming ahead of the Holidays.  It really doesn’t make any sense for me to get to the pool frequently over the next two weeks, if I am then not going to swim at all for the next two weeks.  It will be much more productive, to start a big swim block, after the pool re-opens.

There are other pools I could use, but getting to them will cost me over an hour of additional driving, just to get to them and back again.  Even for someone like me, who is retired, that is a lot of added travel time.  I will just change my plans.

I am now planning on doing a big cycling block.  This makes more sense than a run block, for two reasons. The first is that I am still returning from my Achilles injury, and running aggravates it the most.  The second reason is the weather at this time of year.  It makes running outside unpredictable.  I could do a run block on the treadmill, but I don’t find that very appealing.

Hopefully, the upcoming repairs will fix the issues at my pool permanently.  It has been a little unreliable over the past few years.  There is nothing worse, than driving all the way to the pool, only to find out it is closed.  Maybe, that will be a thing of the past for the rest of this winter.
