The weather forecast for today was really good, and for once, the weatherman got it right. It was 60’F and sunny, which meant only one thing … grab my bike and head outside for a ride.
The upgrades to my TT Bike are not quite finished yet, so I chose to take the road bike to the local park. Unfortunately, it seemed like half of Pittsburgh had the same idea.
The park was super crowded, which made for some interesting moments on the bike. On my standard five mile long lake loop ride, I found myself dodging walkers taking up the whole bike lane, people with dogs on 20 feet leashes and even had a car or two drift off the road into the bike lane.
Eventually I decided enough was enough, and biked away from the loop. The only issue with this is, that every option involves a major hill climb. With this being my first ride outside since last year, I wasn’t sure how I would cope with the hills. It turned out to be a non-issue. I am definitely getting stronger on the bike.
It is so much nicer to ride outside, compared to the bike trainer in my basement. I just like the variety of terrains and efforts; the feeling of the air rushing by and the surroundings that constantly change.
The weather forecast for next weekend looks very good right now. I just hope the weatherman is right again.
Quick footnote : My website is pretty basic right now. I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog. I’m looking forward to building the website over time into a useful resource for you .. just another part of my ‘life’ that you will get to read about.
