Today’s photo is a memory from 2019, when my wife and I raced the Edinboro Sprint Triathlon. My next race will be the same event. It is happening in only eleven day’s time.
After my first ever ‘DNF’ at Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga last weekend, there is no better antidote, than having another event on the schedule. The Edinboro Triathlon is a fantastic local event. There will be about 300 other athletes competing with my wife and I on June 5th.
When I scheduled the Edinboro Triathlon, I was thinking that I might be a little fatigued from Chattanooga on race day. Now, I am going to feel super fresh. It sets me up to go ‘all out’ on race day.
Sprint races are very hard for me, because my training is focused on endurance and not speed. Still it does me good to let it all hang out occasionally. I am so excited about it, that I am thinking about how I might save a precious minute or two. Maybe I will swim without a wetsuit, even though the race is usually wetsuit legal. Maybe I will spend time this week, practicing starting and ending the bike leg, with my shoes attached to the bike.
My next race will be different and it has got me thinking about some new things.
