Not Working Out Is Often The Hardest Thing

This morning I woke up and didn’t feel quite right.  I had a little soreness in my knee and some slight pain in my right foot.  I waited all day to see if things would improve, but when things still felt the same late in the afternoon, I decided I would not workout today.  Sometimes rest is good.

I typically don’t like days when I am not working out. Working out is such a part of my routine, that not doing anything feels strange.  Today was different however. Today it felt right to rest.

With extra time on my hands this evening, I started to put together a plan to work on my mobility and flexibility.  I am going to try and spend 10-15 minutes every day, doing something to help in these areas.  I am basing the program on the book ‘Becoming a Supple Leopard’, that I wrote about here.  As you can read in that post, I have made the decision to become more supple before.  Previously, I failed to follow through.

I need to create a habit in order to follow through.  So, once I have finished creating my plan, I am going to load it into Training Peaks, so it gets tracked.  If I fail to follow through, I will start to get “Red” workouts in the software.  I am hoping that avoiding “Red”, will keep me motivated to stick to a daily routine for long enough to create a habit.

I failed last time.  This time I plan to succeed.
