Why are the fitness centers in hotels always so hot? It doesn’t make any sense.
I got up early this morning to do the second run since my injury. I got to the hotel fitness center and found it empty. It also had nice new equipment, so I was feeling good about my run.
Ten minutes later, I was sweating like crazy. This happens all the time in hotel fitness centers. They are always so hot and have zero air movement. It’s clear that the person who sets that temperature behind the locked up thermostat, never actually uses the room.
My run went quite well, although my hamstrings were really tight at the start. All that sitting in planes and cars yesterday, probably didn’t help. It took about about ten minutes for them to warm up, but after that my run went very well.
I’m still staying patient, and therefore only chose to run for 22 minutes. That’s ten percent longer than my run on Sunday. I am going to shoot for a 25 minute run on Friday on the treadmill at home and gradually increase the volume from there.
Progress is very incremental right now, but that is the way it should be. I don’t need a relapse and besides, just running any distance, feels great right now.
Quick footnote : My website is pretty basic right now. I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog. I’m looking forward to building the website over time into a useful resource for you .. just another part of my ‘life’ that you will get to read about.
