I have been tired today and needed to take a nap this afternoon. I need to acknowledge the fact, that I am doing a poor job with sleep. Sleep is the number one recovery tool for our bodies, so I have set myself the goal of going to bed earlier every night during this upcoming week.
My watch tracks my sleep and in looking at my sleep habits recently, I have noticed that I have started going to bed really late at night. In fact, a couple of nights during this past week, I haven’t started going to sleep until after midnight. This is not because I have trouble falling asleep; I don’t. It is because I am staying up too late.
I want to create a habit of going to bed earlier. Creating a habit requires consistency and to create consistency, I need a realistically achievable goal. I think I will start with a goal of going to bed before 10.30pm. I know that this is still quite late, but it represents a big jump for me.
I am not sure how it will go, but I hope that by putting it out here on my blog, I will hold myself accountable. Time will tell… let’s see how it goes.
