We finally arrived in Colorado this afternoon and all I wanted to do, was go for a run. This first run since Ironman Chattanooga was going to be interesting. This was because it was at a higher altitude that I am used to and because it was also done on legs that haven’t run for two weeks.
Our friend, who we are staying with for the weekend, sent me to a local trail to run and it was fantastic. It was a flat, cinder trail that wound its way through a park and the local neighborhoods.
I was a little worried that running at an altitude much higher than Pittsburgh would be an issue. As I started my run, my breathing was a little heavy, but it soon settled down and felt perfectly normal. My legs were a little stiff and never got to feeling great, but I was not surprised by this after two weeks without running.
This first run in quite a while was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to many more in the coming weeks.
