After a fantastic Thanksgiving Holiday, I stepped on the scales this morning and immediately made a Monday Morning Resolution!
I wish I had a few dollars for every time I resolved to change something on a Monday morning; I could have retired by now. What is so special about a Monday that it ‘resets the clock’? I don’t really know, but I do know I’m human, and I think we all fall into the trap of being disappointed in ourselves for not always making good choices. Monday mornings give us a chance to start over…
After my race season was over a few weeks back, I spent a good deal of time reflecting on the small things that I could do, to help me become a better athlete. I made a pretty long list and over the coming weeks, I’ll share them all with you. For today, I’ll go with the one that I made a resolution about (again!!) this morning…
“Be more deliberate with and manage my nutrition better”
I like food… I really like food that probably isn’t the best for a high performing athlete, like that piece of cheesecake in my fridge. I also really like an awful lot of food that is very good for athletes, so at the end of the day, it comes down to making good choices.
This morning I resolved (again!!) to start tracking my food intake. I have found that if I track what I eat, then I make better choices. So here we go again… maybe sharing this commitment on my blog will make me hold myself more accountable? I definitely resolve to try.
Finally, the good news… my son came home and ate that cheesecake. That’s one less choice that I have to make!
Quick footnote : My website is pretty basic right now. I chose to start sharing first, rather than spending time making the website complete before launching the blog. I’m looking forward to building the website over time into a useful resource for you .. just another part of my ‘life’ that you will get to read about.
