After an uneventful, nine and half hour drive, my wife and I made it to Chattanooga safely. Luckily it was early enough in the evening, that I was able to get in a short run.
We are staying at a hotel in downtown Chattanooga, so I was able to run from the hotel down to the Ironman village. Obviously everything was closed for the night, but it still felt good to see it, as the sun set over the city.
I recently wrote about the Ironman Chattanooga run course. Given that I was now close to the start of the actual course, I decided I would run up the first hill out of transition. I wanted to remind myself, how long and steep it was. It was pretty much how I remembered, and it reminded me of a lot of hills that I run every week in Pittsburgh.
After the run up the hill, I completed my short run by zig-zagging through downtown back to the hotel. Along the way, I included a few pick-ups, just to make sure the legs were fully loosened up after the long car ride.
My run felt good and I am feeling good about the upcoming few days and the race on Sunday. Tomorrow morning I will check-in at the village and then head up to the Chickamauga Dam for a little open water swim practice.
