I was up early, to get my run workout done today. I needed it out of the way, because I had an early morning meeting at work. My work meeting went on for a long time, so by lunchtime, I was ready for a break.
The weather outside was nice, so I decided to get some fresh air, out on the deck. While sitting there, I thought it would also be a good idea to put on my Normatec recovery boots, and try and get my legs recovered from two days of hard workouts.
These recovery boots are expensive, but they have been a good investment. The pulsed compression really gets the fluid moving in your legs, which helps promote recovery. Every time I finish a session in these boots, my legs always feel better.
I sat like this for 40 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed it. I really need to learn to relax a little more often. Instead of trying to get some job done during lunch, it was nice to just sit, breathe in the fresh air and hear the wind in the trees.
Relaxation and recovery are key components of a good triathlon training program. After all, muscular adaptation from the stresses caused by exercise, only occurs during sleep and rest. The weather looks good for tomorrow; I think I might do this again!
