After flirting with heat exhaustion yesterday, I avoided the heat today, and rode my bike indoors. It wasn’t quite as hot as yesterday outside, but it was still quite oppressive.
I started the day with a visit to our neighborhood outdoor pool. I didn’t have a swim workout scheduled for today, but decided to swim anyway. I lost a few weeks swimming, when I didn’t have access to an open pool. As a result, I feel that I am a little behind in my swim training. Hence this extra visit to the pool. I had a really good swim this morning, so was really glad I went.
My scheduled workout for the day, was a 90 minute easy effort ride on the bike. Even though I wouldn’t be pushing hard, I chose to ride my trainer and avoided the heat. I also had a good ride. Without pushing hard, I still was producing some good power. I really feel like my strength is starting to return.
Tomorrow is a swim and a run day. Luckily, the temperatures are forecast to be much lower and I will be able to run outside.
