After six weeks away from running due to a small injury, I finally had the pleasure of lacing up my runs shoes once again. I am starting back slowly with short, easy paced runs, but it does feel good to be back.
My first run was a quick one from home to the local High School and back. I did a couple of laps of the school grounds, and ended up running just under four miles. Today, it was cold outside, so I chose to do a forty minute run on the treadmill. My choice to run on the treadmill was made easier by being able to watch World Cup soccer.
Even after only a short time away from running, I am quite surprised at how sore my muscles are. I have been doing some hard bike sessions, so that has an affect too, but even so. I will only do a bike workout tomorrow, and then on Saturday, I will try a slightly longer run, most likely at the local park.
Running was my first love when it comes to endurance sports, so it feels great to be lacing up my run shoes again.
