It’s Not The Best View But That Didn’t Matter

As you can see from today’s photograph, what I see as I ride my bike in the basement, is not the best view ever seen.  The reality is however, that I don’t ride in my basement for the views, I ride there, to get better.

As mentioned in my blog yesterday, I had a short run followed by a longer bike ride on my schedule today.  I did both workouts in my basement.  I also mentioned in the blog, that I didn’t think I had lost much fitness, while on vacation in England.  After my workouts today, I still feel that way.  My run felt very easy and the bike session also went well.  I was able to hold decent power, while working at a higher cadence than I normally ride at.  My legs are little tired this evening, but that is all.

I am at the hardest time of year for training.  It is still winter outside, so I train a lot indoors. It however, now the middle of February. This is the time, when we start to get the occasional warmer day and that’s when I start dreaming of being able to ride outside again.  It is so much more fun to ride outside, and also better preparation for racing, because it involves bike handling skills.

Staring at my basement wall this afternoon, which as I said, is not the best view, had me dreaming of going outside.  I was craving it more than normal.  Not long now…
