After my rest day yesterday, I was eagerly looking forward to my one hour run workout today. My legs were feeling much fresher, so this easy pace run was set up to be a fun workout.
First thing in the morning, when I looked outside, I saw that it had snowed a little overnight. Not a lot of snow, but enough to make the roads and sidewalks too slick to safely run on. I thought to myself, maybe it will be better at lunchtime.
Guess what .. it wasn’t any better at lunchtime and given that I had a swim workout set for the evening, I had no choice but to do my run on the treadmill in our basement.
I am not a big fan of the treadmill, but it is an important fall back option for me. It does give me the flexibility to get my workouts done, when it’s too dangerous to run outside. I have to learn however, to start using my fan when running on the treadmill. I use the fan for every workout on my bike trainer, but somehow, always forget to put it on, to cool me down when running.
As a result of not using the fan, I managed to build up quite a sweat during my run. I was drinking water during the run, but I still got hot and my clothes got wet. If you look closely, you can see sweat all over my head in today’s photo…. gross!
It is snowing again as I write this blog post. Tomorrow however, I only have a bike workout. I’ll be back in the basement using the bike trainer. This time however, the fan will be on!
