Following on from becoming a C26 Triathlon Coach, I decided that I need to follow the advice that I give to my athletes. I always tell them, that one of the best investments you can make as a triathlete, is a good bike fit. It is over a year since I last had a bike fit, so today I signed up for another.
The bike fitter who I have used before, has moved away from Pittsburgh, so I needed someone new to go to. I asked a few teammates, who they would recommend and I found a couple of very good candidates. Unfortunately, they are both a long way away from Pittsburgh.
So, I am trying something new. One of the recommended fitters, does an online fit. He uses a series of videos and photographs to make recommendations. It’s an iterative process that will take several weeks to complete. I thought I would give this a go. After all, I can always make a long drive for an in person follow up down the road, if it doesn’t work out.
Getting the various videos was quite straightforward. It took me about twenty minutes. The photo above is a screen shot from one of the videos. I am wearing my aero helmet because it is part of the evaluation. It was kind of weird however, wearing a helmet on the trainer.
Now that I have the ‘before’ position, it will be interesting to see what changes the fitter makes. I’ll update you all, when the process is finished in a couple of weeks.
