Even though I have already done a race at Oceanside, it is only this week, that it feels like race season has arrived.
It is a big weekend of racing for me.
Personally, I will be participating in the Mighty Moraine Man Olympic triathlon. This year, this particular race has been designated as the Pennsylvania State Championship by USAT. This means that it has attracted a large field of athletes, many of who are the best in the state.
I think it mostly feels like race season however, because the athletes that I coach are also starting to race. This weekend I have four athletes racing. One is doing Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga, two are doing the same Olympic triathlon as me, and one is running the Brooklyn half marathon.
I tend to get much more nervous about my athletes racing than I do about my own race. I have done my very best to get them all ready to race, but you never know what can happen on race day. I just want them all to have a safe race and enjoy the experience.
After this weekend, many more races lie ahead. I however, have only one more race confirmed on my schedule. That is Ironman 70.3 Musselman in July. I will likely do some other races after Musselman, but I haven’t decided what to do quite yet. I want to focus on doing my very best this coming Sunday, and at Musselman in July. Looking beyond those races would be just a distraction right now.
