The email from Ironman worked … it got me to sign up for my early season 2020 ‘A’ race.

To be honest, I really didn’t get sucked in by Ironman.  I had made the decision to do Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga several weeks ago.  I have just been procrastinating about actually signing up for the race.  That changed last night when I got an email saying that general registration was 90% sold out!

Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga is a perfect race for me.  The course suits my strengths  and the largely downstream swim helps overcome my weakest discipline.  The timing is perfect because I can train all winter and still have a few weeks to train outside ahead of race day.  In particular, the timing helps me get my bike handling skills back after a winter on the trainer.

I love the race too, because it’s a designated team race for my triathlon team – C26 Triathlon.  There will be so many teammates and their family members in town… we have so much fun.  It’s also where my coach lives, so I’ll have his support on race day too.

So… thanks Ironman.  I got to spend money on triathlon again.  Always remember … there is a reason “Tri rhymes with Buy”.
