Today was one of those days, where everything I needed to get done, seemed to take longer than planned. This meant that when it came time for me to run, I was dodging thunderstorms. The weather had been great all day, until it was run time.
It was a double workout day. An hour and thirty five minute hard session on the bike, and an easy thirty five minute run. I had wanted to do the bike ride in the morning, but one thing led to another and it was 2.30pm, before I got onto the bike trainer.
The bike workout was tough on my legs; they are still not back to 100%. As a result, I chose to rest a little before doing my run. As I rested, the weather outside turned nasty, so I decided to run on the treadmill. I got changed into my run gear and then… power outage. I couldn’t run!!
Running outside was not an option with thunder and lightening everywhere, and obviously, my treadmill needs power to operate (I cannot afford one of those amazing self-powered Woodway Curve treadmills).
The power came back on very quickly. Now however, I was concerned about the possibility of another outage, while I was actually running on the treadmill. I didn’t want to possibly injure myself, so I waited until the storm passed before running. The run went well, but a second set of storms cane through towards the end. That had me a little on edge, to say the least.
Dodging thunderstorms to train in no fun and fortunately, here in Pittsburgh it doesn’t happen very often. Today was just one of those days.
