Yesterday, I took a complete day off from all things related to triathlon. I didn’t do my scheduled run workout. I didn’t look at workouts my athletes had done. Even do my daily blog post was a victim of my absence. Nothing triathlon related at all. I just needed a day to refresh.
I spent the day being a tourist with my wife, as we returned home from Washington, DC. We visited Harper’s Ferry in West Virginia and the Antietam National Battlefield near Sharpsburg, Maryland. I learned a lot about the Civil War and we had a great time.
The great thing about taking a day off from triathlon, was that I was fired up to get back at it this morning. Early this morning, I spent time catching up with what my athletes had been doing. Then, late this afternoon, after finishing a bunch of chores around the house, I went for my weekly long run at North Park.
It was a great run. The weather was nice; warm but not too hot. I ran at an easy effort and didn’t feel tired at all, when I finished ninety minutes later. Tomorrow, I have my long ride for the week. I will be joining some friends as we celebrate a birthday for one of them, by ‘riding his age’ in miles. It should be a lot of fun.
