I Took A Day Off And Got All Set Up For Oceanside

My legs, and particularly my quads, have been feeling really fatigued for a few days now. So today, I did the right thing; I listened to my body and took a day off.  As I sat on the couch this afternoon, my thoughts turned to 2022, and my first race at Oceanside.

Although I have registered for the race in April, I had not arranged flights and accommodation.  That all got fixed this afternoon.  Flights are booked. We have arranged to rent a condo, right next to the course, and have a rental car large enough to accommodate my bike case.

While looking for the condo, I was on Google maps and I couldn’t help but look at the course map.  Looking at the map, I was able to fully visualize the last time I did this race.  The swim into the harbor, the bike ride through Camp Pendleton and the run through Oceanside.  That run was very painful for me last time I did it.  Hopefully it will be much better next year.

I don’t take too many days off from training, but today I needed it.  Hopefully I will feel refreshed tomorrow morning, so I can have another good week of workouts going into the Holidays.
