There comes a point towards the end of every year, where the “off season” starts. I think I reached that point today.
I was going to ride my bike for an hour or so this morning, but instead I chose to spend the day doing things around the house, and lots of yard work. This gave me time to reflect on the past year and to start formulating plans to get me prepared for next year.
To be honest, I never really have an “off season”. I will reduce training slightly for a few weeks, but I never get completely away from it. This week has been really light on working out, as I recovered from my run on the Rachel Carson Trail. Next week will be light too, but then I will get back to work.
I spent a lot of time today, thinking about goals for 2021 and then, about what it will take to achieve them. I thought about what went well this year and where do I need to improve?
I’ll be sharing my thoughts over the next few days. I think I have it mostly figured out, but am still contemplating a couple of things. If 2021 is going to be a year where we get back to racing, I want to be fully prepared. That preparation will take all winter, and I am looking forward to getting stuck into it.
