It is always fun to do a local Sprint Triathlon race.  So when it was announced that one of my favorite local events, had obtained all its permits to race, I immediately signed up.  I am really glad that I did, because it has already sold out.

The race I am talking about is the Edinboro Triathlon.  It takes place in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, in June.  The course is quite fast, with a lake swim, a flat bike course and a run that has a few hills.

Last time I raced there, I had a memorable day.  I managed to finish eleventh overall, and was third in my age group.  While it was one of my better race results, that wasn’t why it was memorable however.  It was special, because my wife also raced that day. It was her first ever triathlon.  I can still picture the huge smile on her face, when I found her towards the end of the run.

I also remember that I got quite lucky that day.  When picking up my bike after the race, I discovered that I had a flat front tire.  I am guessing that I must have picked up a slow puncture, right at the end of the bike.  

I can’t wait to do this local sprint triathlon race again.  It’s going to be a lot of fun.  It will be another special day, because my wife is doing it too.
